Clarion County Junior Sportsmen Program

Funder: Clarion County Sportsmen for Youth

Geographic Scope: Open to youth from Clarion, Venango, Forest, Jefferson, and Armstrong County

Age Range: 16-21 years old

Program Objectives:

  • Connecting like-minded youth sportsmen to expand their network

  • Mentoring young adult sportsmen to fill transitioning board openings

  • Bringing fresh ideas and ambitions to decision-making through voices of youth stakeholders

  • Potentially establishing a college scholarship fund for outstanding youth leadership

  • Engaging participation, volunteerism, and environmental stewardship

  • Supporting and fostering young adult sportsmen with ambitions to establish outdoor programs for youth and/or wildlife conservation

    • Eligibility:

  • Ages 16-21

  • Residents of Clarion, Venango, Forest, Jefferson, or Armstrong County

  • Strong interest in outdoor sports and wildlife

  • Students studying Wildlife Conservation, Land Management, Forestry, Parks and Recreation, Fisheries, etc. are strongly encouraged

    • Program Expectations:

  • Attendance at approximately 9 board meetings per year

  • Assistance at two annual events: Youth Field Day (early August) and Fundraising Banquet (late February)

  • Eligibility to sit on Board committees

  • Assignment of small tasks (information gathering, social media posts, phone calls)

  • Help spreading information about Youth Field Day, Hunter's Safety, and outdoor/shooting clubs

    • Benefits:

  • Experience in a Board of Directors setting

  • Volunteer hours

  • Opportunity to mentor other youth

  • Integral participation in Pennsylvania's largest Youth Field Day
