Clare Boothe Luce Program for Women in STEM Grant

The Clare Boothe Luce Program for Women in STEM aims to significantly increase the participation of women in math, science, and engineering at higher education levels. By providing grants of up to $750,000, the program supports institutions in addressing barriers to women's success in STEM fields. It focuses on fostering women's leadership and inclusion within STEM, ultimately striving for a more equitable and innovative future.

The Clare Boothe Luce Program for Women in STEM is dedicated to significantly increasing the number of women in math, science and engineering at every level of higher education.
By addressing the structural and cultural barriers that contribute to the gender gap, and advancing women’s leadership in the sciences, a new–more inclusive–landscape can take shape.
Through the Clare Boothe Luce Program for Women in STEM and STEM Convergence, we aspire to close the gender gap in the field, broaden the participation of women from diverse backgrounds, and advance women-led STEM innovation for positive social change.
Advancing America’s Leadership in the Sciences through the Clare Boothe Luce Program
The Clare Boothe Luce Program for Women in STEM seeks to remove the structural and cultural barriers that inhibit women’s pursuit of and persistence in STEM fields. As of 2024, the Program awards grants of up to $750,000 to use over five years to higher education institutions, enabling them to expand opportunities for women in STEM and prepare them for leadership roles and fulfilling careers.

Eligibility

Grants are made to four-year degree-granting institutions.Minority-Serving institutions and institutions with high percentages of Pell Grant-eligible students whose institutional mission and/or strategic plan aligns with CBL Program goals are encouraged to apply.Applicants must have conducted or plan to conduct research (climate surveys, sexual harassment surveys, diversity studies, or equivalent research efforts) that demonstrates a clear understanding of the barriers its particular communities of women encounter. CBL funding can be part of the proposed research plans.

Ineligibility

Grants are not made directly to individuals.The use of national data alone is not sufficient evidence of expertise.We do not accept applications related to medical, behavioral, and social science fields.Funds may not be used for international study or travel abroad programs.CBL grantees may not apply for another grant until three years after the submission of their final narrative and budget report.
