Civic Engagement Microgrant Program

Eligibility:

  • Graduate student-led science policy groups

  • Postdoctoral researcher-led science policy groups

  • Science policy organizations at universities and research institutions across the U.S.

    • Focus Areas:

  • Civic engagement and educational outreach activities

  • Science policy advocacy

  • Community engagement on societal benefits and local impact of scientific research

  • Science communication

  • Health and science policy

  • Environmental science and climate change

  • Data visualization and science communication tools

  • Building collaborative efforts between STEM and social scientists

    • Program Features:

  • Supports initiation of new science policy groups (up to two years of seed funding)

  • Encourages high-impact virtual programming (podcasting, webinars, data visualization)

  • Participants invited to science policy and advocacy course developed with FASEB (Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology)

  • 'Science Meets Science' program funds awards focusing on interdisciplinary collaboration between STEM and social scientists
