City of Homer Grant Program

The City of Homer Grant Program, administered by the Homer Foundation, aims to enhance community life by providing funding to local nonprofits. These organizations must meet specific eligibility criteria, including having IRS 501(c)(3) status and operating within Homer for at least three years. The program focuses on supporting essential services and fostering effective grant-making to address both current and future community needs.

Goals
Develop a permanent endowment for the community. Meet prudent standards in the stewardship of philanthropic assets. Promote effective and responsible grant making designed to serve current and future community needs. Demonstrate community leadership in identifying problems and designing philanthropic solutions. Assist donors in fulfilling their philanthropic goals by providing a variety of philanthropic mechanisms
The City of Homer grants program provides funding to many Homer nonprofits who provide essential and enriching programs to the community. The Homer Foundation administers the program as well as manages an endowment fund for the city.

Eligibility

Organizations must meet all of the following eligibility requirements:Organization has IRS 501(c)(3) tax exempt statusOrganization has been in existence in Homer a minimum of 3 yearsOrganization’s primary facility is located within Homer City limits, and core programs, activities and services are offered within the Homer City limitsOrganization is administered locally with a local policy-making board of directorsOrganization had no other financial or in-kind support from the City of Homer during the last fiscal yearIf you are a returning applicant, organization must complete the prior year's evaluation to be eligible to receive funding
