Overview

NOTE: A Grants Committee meets three times a year. The Committee’s role is to put applications forward to stage 2. Please note the heritage & conservation category is currently closed to new applications. 2025 deadlines for the submission of applications for the Stage 1 meetings are as follows: 30 January 2026 (March Grants Committee meeting)22 May 2026 (July Grants Committee meeting)18 September 2026 (November Grants Committee meeting) In this category we are looking to fund projects that improve the livelihoods of disadvantaged communities in Commonwealth Countries of Africa. We fund projects in the following sub-categories: Clean water and sanitationDevelopment of sustainable livelihoods in the context of environmental and wildlife conservationSelf sustainability through training in farming skills and income generation activities Our funding priorities: Projects that adopt a holistic approach throughout all project stages and have a well defined ‘exit strategy’ Projects being delivered at the grass-roots level through an established and proven delivery partner who is fully engaged with the local community Projects that clearly demonstrate the local communities involvement and that necessary training and education is in place to sustain the project beyond the delivery partner’s departure The applicant must be able to demonstrate that robust governance and monitoring procedures are in place
