Channel Kindness Awards
Organization: Born This Way Foundation in partnership with Peace First
Overview: The Channel Kindness Awards recognize young people ages 13-24 for their incredible work to make the world a kinder, braver place. The program invites applicants to submit creative ideas aimed at inspiring kindness and mental wellness in their communities.
- Initially launched in partnership with Lady Gaga's Joanne World Tour (8 cities, summer/fall 2017)
- Later focused on Las Vegas metro area (specific boundaries outlined on application page)
- Projects must take place within the applicant's geographic area
Geographic Scope
- Number of awards: Four winners chosen throughout the year
- Prize structure: - $500 cash to the awardee to bring their idea to life - Additional $500 donation from the Foundation to the nonprofit the project supports
- Support provided: Foundation staff provides guidance and support throughout project planning and execution; winners work with BTWF to select implementation date

- Residency: Must live in Las Vegas metro area (geographic boundaries specified on application)
- Parental consent: Required for applicants under age 18

Application Process
Rolling basis acceptance with deadline: August 1, 2020 (as noted in most recent available materials; current 2026 deadline unknown)
Required Information
1. Age verification (must be 13-24 at time of submission) 2. Residency verification (Las Vegas metro area) 3. Project proposal describing: - Creative ideas for inspiring kindness and mental wellness - How the project will positively impact community - Commitment to improving others' lives 4. Nonprofit partner identification (the organization your project will support) 5. Parental/guardian consent form (if applicant is under 18)- Questions about submission guidelines can be directed to [email protected]
- Applicants not selected as award recipients can still be involved by sharing their story to inspire kindness
Submission Guidelines
- If selected, Foundation staff will work with awardee to develop project ideas
- Continued planning support provided until event date
- Foundation works with recipient to select implementation date
