Change Happens Foundation Grant

The Change Happens Foundation (founded by Doug Troxel) makes competitive grants to 501(c)(3) public charities across three pillars: Environmental Science (systemic, sustainable solutions to environmental challenges), Education (early education and STEM, empowering women and underrepresented communities), and Human Services (nutrition, food insecurity, community health). Organizations aligning with multiple pillars receive priority.

Eligibility - organizations must hold current 501(c)(3) public-charity status and have at least two years of Form 990 submissions (verified via GuideStar Charity Check); private foundations are ineligible. Geographic focus: organizations with national or global reach; community grants primarily in Iowa, occasionally San Francisco Bay Area, Santa Barbara County, and the Puget Sound Area. Process: (1) confirm eligibility/fit, (2) apply through the online portal, (3) if reviewed positively, submit a detailed proposal and meet virtually with a Co-Executive Director before a full board vote. Does NOT fund: direct advocacy projects, orgs based outside the U.S., faith-based activities, endowments, scholarships, or special events. Competitive; rolling intake via portal (no stated deadline captured).
