Mission Our mission is to strengthen Greene County by building charitable endowments, maximizing benefits to donors, making effective grants and providing leadership to address community needs. Vision The Community Foundation of Greene County will partner with others to address current and emerging needs through leadership and philanthropy. The storefront of the Community Foundation officeThe Community Foundation of Greene County (CFGC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable corporation, was formed in 2000, by a group of citizens with a commitment to investing in the future of the community. The CFGC is the central philanthropic vehicle in Greene County for donations of various types and sizes and continually strive to serve the interests of our donors. We maintain and enhance the educational, social, cultural, health and civic resources of the community through support of qualified nonprofit organizations. We serve as a leading catalyst and neutral convener to meet a wide range of community needs in Greene County. We are public and non-sectarian in our structure and governance and primarily support organizations that are not affiliated with a particular religious faith or denomination. Focus Recognizing that community life can be enhanced or improved in many different ways, CFGC supports projects and programs that improve the quality of life in Greene County, PA through: Animal welfare, agricultural, horticultural, environmental protection and/or beautification Arts, culture and humanities Community and economic development for public and societal benefit Education and literacy Environment Health, fitness and safety Human needs Types of Grants Community Grants are awarded from the Field of Interest Funds and other funds set aside by the CFGC Board of Directors from various discretionary funds, including, but not limited to: The Good For Greene Fund, andThe Francis “Bob” Bradford Fund.Eligibility

Eligible applicants must be nonprofit, charitable (recognized as Exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code), tax-exempt organizations whose purposes and programs benefit Greene County residents.The Foundation does accept grant applications from:Tax-exempt nonprofit entities Governmental bodies Municipalities Schools Religious and faith-based projects for non-sectarian, community projectsGrants to Faith Based and Religious ProgramsCommunity Grants are only made to faith-based and religious organizations for projects which serve broad and non-sectarian purposes, regardless of the faith of those they serve. Examples include:churches, synagogues, or other religious organizations that have food or clothing pantries for the poor or support work among the poor;hospitals or colleges serving broad areas such as health care and education.Ineligibility
We do not accept grant applications for:Annual campaigns or endowments; Fundraising events or activitiesRoutine operating expenses (i.e., salaries, rent, and/or utilities);
Political purposes;Loans; orIndividuals or for the benefit of an individual.
