Overview

AAO-HNS Foundation The AAO-HNS Foundation works to advance the art, science, and ethical practice of otolaryngology-head and neck surgery through education, research, and quality measurement. The American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, Inc. (AAO-HNS), and its foundation, the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery Foundation, Inc. (AAO-HNSF), are two separate and independent organizations, each incorporated in the District of Columbia. The Foundation is a non-profit, educational organization, designated as a 501(c)(3) association by the IRS. The Academy is designated as a 501(c)(6) non-profit association by the IRS. Centralized Otolaryngology Research Efforts (CORE) Grants The Centralized Otolaryngology Research Efforts (CORE) grants program is a collaboration of several societies and industry supporters focused on providing support for research in the field of otolaryngology-head and neck surgery. Since 1985, CORE has awarded more than 800 grants and more than $14 million for research projects, research training, and career development to further the specialty of otolaryngology. These grants, ranging in award size from $5,000 to $150,000, have been essential for increasing the research base for otolaryngology. The CORE program brings greater scale and less fragmentation and overlap to otolaryngology-head and neck surgery research opportunities, reduces the aggregate costs of the individual grant programs, and enables a comprehensive overview of the spectrum of promising otolaryngology and head and neck surgery research/researchers to promote to NIH and other agencies. Centralized Otolaryngology Research Efforts (CORE) Grants: AAO-HNSF Reg-ent Research Grant Purpose The purpose of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (AAO-HNSF) Reg-ent Research Grant is to stimulate original research using the AAO-HNSF’s clinical data registry, Reg-ent. Projects should be well-conceived and scientifically valid, with the potential to advance otolaryngology. Special consideration will be given to applicants that are already affiliated with a Reg-ent site; however, Reg-ent participation is not required.
