About Us Columbus Citizens Foundation celebrates Italian heritage and culture through a broad range of philanthropic and educational activities. The Foundation’s Scholarship program has supported thousands of deserving Italian American students, offering them a chance to fulfill their academic dreams and excel in their endeavors. Since 1929, the Foundation’s most public activity is organizing New York City’s annual Columbus Day Parade, the largest celebration of Italian-American heritage and achievement in the world. CCF offers many programs throughout the year celebrating Italian language, culture, history, and the many connections between Italy and the United States that extend across several centuries and continue to the present day. CCF Opportunities Fund The CCF Opportunities Fund supports students currently pursuing programs in Italy in the fields of Italian language, literature, art, history, music, archaeology, architecture, or other disciplines that reflect the richness of Italian culture and its significance today. Students must confirm their enrollment (or explain the status of their application) in an existing program to study abroad in Italy to be eligible for funding. A detailed budget of all expenses must be included.

Applicant must be entering their first year at an accredited college/university or medical school Applicant must be of at least 25% Italian heritage Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 or 88% Applicants must provide: The parent and/or applicant’s most recent Federal Tax Return documents (2022 tax year or 2023 tax year, if available). Consideration is given for applicants with demonstrated financial need. The applicant’s Student Aid Report (SAR) from the 2024-2025 FAFSA application Two (2) letters of recommendation from professional and/or academic contact. This may include teachers, professors, community leaders, mentors, counselors, or another person who can speak to the applicant’s academic merits and/or extracurricular and community service activities. The applicant’s most recent, or current, semester’s report card or transcript

Ineligibility

CCF awards are not for off-campus housing, transportation, to pay loans, or for other non-educational expenses. Scholarships are not transferable to any other individual. Scholarships are restricted to the original purpose of the award and for a specific time frame.
