The Carolyn Jane Scott Charitable Trust was established under a trust agreement by Carolyn Scott, with Wells Fargo Bank, N.A. as the trustees. She resided in Jersey City, NJ. The trust was created to support various charitable organizations.

The mission of the Trust is to provide grants to qualified 501(c) organizations supporting charitable, literary, scientific and educational purposes. Generally, the Trust funds the following program areas:

* Arts, culture, and humanities
* Education
* Environment, animals
* Health
* Human services
* International/foreign affairs
* Public/society benefit
* Religion

There are no geographic limitations; however, the Trust has a practice of primarily supporting organizations located in or serving the State of New Jersey. Averagely, the grant size is $15,000 to $25,000 and the number of grants awarded per year is15-20.

* To be eligible, organizations must:
* Qualify as exempt organizations under Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code
* Demonstrate fiscal and administrative stability
* Deliver services addressing critical community need
* All grant funds must be expended for charitable, scientific, literary, or educational purposes.
* Grant funds, as well as any interest earned thereon, are to be spent only in accordance with the submitted proposal
