The Foundation prioritizes organizations that work towards aggressive carbon reduction goals by 2030 to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. Eligible applicants must be 501(c)(3) organizations, not classified as private foundations. The Foundation seeks to support efforts that enhance community engagement and energy efficiency, ensuring equity and environmental justice in policy reforms.

We make community grants in New Haven, CT, and Minneapolis, MN, and climate change grants in Minnesota.
Within climate change grantmaking we focus on efforts to mitigate and adapt for climate change:
Carolyn Foundation’s highest environmental priority is addressing climate change as the most important issue affecting our world. The Foundation’s objective is to support aggressive & equitable carbon reduction between now and 2030 as the foundation for achieving net-zero carbon by 2050.
The Foundation’s objective is to support aggressive & equitable carbon reduction between now and 2030 as the Foundation for achieving net-zero carbon by 2050. So as we look at requests, we will prioritize organizations explicitly addressing carbon reduction and community impact. Organizations that prioritize other essential environmental issues, water, toxics, and food, and only tangentially impact climate, are unlikely to be funded.

Eligibility

The Foundation only funds organizations which are exempt from Federal income tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and which are not classified as Private Foundations. Geography: Minnesota and the Indigenous Nations
