Overview: Two-year research award supporting emerging research leaders who plan to continue their career in the field of lung cancer research.

Award Amount: $150,000 (two-year award)

Geographic Scope: North Carolina

Focus Areas:

  • Basic scientific research focused on lung cancer care

  • Lung cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, or survivorship

  • Early-stage researchers establishing careers in lung cancer
  • Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be conducting research with direct impact on early detection of lung cancer and/or individualized lung cancer treatment (including targeted therapy and immunotherapy)

  • Emerging research leaders planning continued career in lung cancer research
  • Recent Awardee (2023): Thomas Lycan, DO, MHS, Wake Forest University Health Sciences - Phase II pilot study of quick start durvalumab following chemoradiation for stage III non-small cell lung cancer

    Partnership: In 2023, LCI partners with LUNGevity Foundation on a three-year $300,000 Career Development Award

    Background: Since 2008, LCI has funded more than $3 million in lung cancer research through various programs.
