Alumni Supplemental Grant

Overview: Award celebrating LCI's 15th year as a 501(c)(3) by helping lung cancer researchers who have previously been funded by LCI to advance studies that are already underway.

Award Amount: Up to $100,000

Geographic Scope: North Carolina

Focus Areas:

  • Support for previously-funded LCI researchers

  • Advancement of ongoing lung cancer research studies

  • Coverage of unanticipated time or resources needed to further studies

  • Expansion of original study aims
  • Eligibility:

  • Must have received prior funding from LCI

  • Project must already be underway

  • Additional funding necessary to cover unanticipated costs or resources
  • Recent Awardee (2023): Chad Pecot, MD, Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center - "Mechanistic and therapeutic implications of co-targeting KRAS and MYC in lung cancer" - RNA-based drug targeting tumor cells to simultaneously silence KRAS and MYC mutations

    Background: Since 2008, LCI has funded more than $3 million in lung cancer research.
