Overview
Carbon Reduction Program
The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, enacted as the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), Public Law 117-58 (Nov. 15, 2021), established the Carbon Reduction Program (CRP) to provide funding from the Federal Highway Administration to States for projects to reduce carbon emissions from surface transportation. Maryland’s CRP program is administered by the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) and solicits eligible projects through the Climate Focused Funding Application on Maryland OneStop. The program will fund eligible projects that support progress towards carbon emission goals outlined in the MDOT Carbon Reduction Strategy and the 2023 Climate Pollution Reduction Plan, which support the Climate Solutions Now Act of 2022 goal of reducing emissions at the state level by 60% statewide from 2006 levels by 2031 and achieving net-zero emissions by 2045.
