Cannabis Tax Fund Grant Program - Toxicology Driving Under the Influence (DUI)/Driving Under the Influence of Drugs (DUID): Medical Examiners/Coroner’s Offices, and Law Enforcement Coroner’s Divisions (CA)

The Cannabis Tax Fund Grant Program aims to enhance data collection in Medical Examiner and Coroner's offices regarding DUI/DUID incidents. With approximately $11 million available, each grant application can request up to $2 million. The funds will support new initiatives or expand existing activities to ensure thorough investigations when fatalities occur due to vehicular incidents involving impaired drivers. Applicants must demonstrate a clear need and measurable goals for the proposed budget items.

Cannabis Tax Fund Grant Program - Toxicology Driving Under the Influence (DUI)/Driving Under the Influence of Drugs (DUID): Medical Examiners/Coroner’s Offices, and Law Enforcement Coroner’s Divisions
Grant funds shall be used to improve and advance the data collection in Medical Examiner/Coroner’s offices/divisions supporting DUI/DUID when a death occurs while the deceased was driving or riding in a motor vehicle, or a result of the deceased being struck by a motor vehicle.
Grant funds shall be used to implement new activities or augment existing funds, which expand current activities.
Funding
Available project funding is approximately $11 million, with a $2 million cap, per Grant Application. The Grant Applicant must provide strong justification, measurable goals, and an immediate need for all requested budget items as part of the Project.
