Program Description

CANERS provides scholarships to high school students who are planning to attend college majoring in a horticultural field. Since 1989, the organization has funded over $1 million in scholarships for students pursuing careers in horticulture.

Eligibility

• High school students planning to attend college
• Majoring in a horticultural field
• Academic performance: While grades are important, a B student who participates in horticulture-related activities may be selected over an A student who does not participate in related activities
• Must participate in horticulture-related activities (FFA, 4-H, or other related activities preferred)

Required Materials

• Current school year letters of recommendation (email letters are NOT accepted; must be on school letterhead)
• Current transcripts
• Computer-generated transcripts (not printed by school admissions office) must be signed by horticulture instructor

Eligible Institutions

Recipients have completed degrees at institutions including:

• Cabrillo College
• California Polytechnic State University (Pomona and San Luis Obispo)
• Diablo Valley College
• Foothill Community College
• Merritt College
• Mount San Antonio College
• University of California, Davis
• And more

Application Process

1. Obtain Application: Download CANERS 2024 Scholarship Application for High School Students
2. Gather Required Documents:
   • Current school year letters of recommendation (physical letters, not email)
   • Current transcripts
   • If using computer-generated transcripts, ensure they are signed by horticulture instructor
3. Submit Application: Submit completed application with all required materials to CANERS Foundation
