CAA Professional Development Fellowship in Art History Grant

The CAA Professional Development Fellowship in Art History provides crucial support for recent PhD graduates and scholars from multicultural and underrepresented backgrounds in the field of art history. This fellowship awards $10,000 to assist with job-search expenses, image licensing, and publishing costs. Additionally, each recipient gains a one-year CAA membership and free registration for the upcoming Annual Conference, encouraging diverse voices in the art community to flourish.

CAA's Professional Development Fellowship in Art History supports graduate students and scholars in art, architecture, and/or design historians, curators, or critics who recently received their PhD and are preparing the PhD for publication or who are conducting research in their final year to complete their PhD.
The awards will be given to multicultural art historians and art historians from underrepresented groups and from culturally diverse communities. Each fellow is given a one-time award to help with various aspects of their work, whether for job-search expenses, image license fees, or other publishing costs.  Fellows also receive a free one-year CAA membership and complimentary registration to the next Annual Conference, Honorable Mentions, given at the discretion of the jury, receive a free one-year CAA membership and complimentary registration for the next Annual Conference.
Award
One fellowship will be awarded in the amount of $10,000.

Eligibility

The following criteria are used in selecting recipients. (Statements and/or letters of recommendation should speak to these):
Applicants must be US citizens or permanent residents. Applicants must have recently earned a PhD or must be in the final year of their PhD program.  Applicants must demonstrate financial need. A CAA individual member ID or non-member ID is required to apply. Each fellow is granted an unrestricted award of $10,000. Fellows and honorable mentions receive free CAA memberships for one year and complimentary registration to attend the next Annual Conference.  Scholars from historically underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply.
