Betty Petersen Conservation Fund

A BirdsCaribbean named grant fund (managed since 2019) supporting community-engaged bird conservation in the Caribbean — projects that engage and empower communities and stakeholders to protect and benefit sustainably from their birds; projects benefiting Important Bird Areas / Key Biodiversity Areas under serious threat are prioritized. Eligibility: individuals or organizations headquartered in the Caribbean (undergraduate through established professionals, non-professionals, organizations/governments). At least 1:1 matching funds (in-kind qualifies) are encouraged and a higher match may receive preference. Use of funds: field travel, field living expenses, assistant stipends, equipment/supplies — not salaries, wages, or overhead. Applicants must be BirdsCaribbean members.
