Betterment Grant Funds

The Betterment Grant Funds, managed by the Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation, support projects that enhance the North Platte region. Eligible nonprofit organizations and public agencies can apply for grants ranging from $500 to $35,000 to fund various initiatives, including facility improvements, community events, and technology upgrades. These grants aim to foster community development and resilience, ensuring lasting benefits for local residents and organizations.

Betterment Grants
Betterment Grants are awarded to projects that benefit people and qualified nonprofit organizations in our Service Area.
Types of projects that receive Betterment Grants include:
facility improvements, equipment, technology, vehicles, repairs, community events, safety, new services, training, community facilities, data systems, community disasters, beautification, shelter, new programs, assessments and planning.
A grant application typically is strengthened by evidence of project funding from other sources.
Grant award amounts vary from project to project. Grant awards last year ranged from $500 to $50,000. Not all grant applications receive a grant award and grant awards may vary from requested amounts. Betterment Grants are funded from Unrestricted Betterment Grant Funds and from Field of Interest Funds at the Community Foundation.

Eligibility

Betterment Grants are made to qualified 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations and to qualified public government organizations or agencies. The North Platte area includes Lincoln County and the 11 nearby counties of Arthur, Custer, Dawson, Frontier, Hayes, Hooker, Keith, Logan, McPherson, Perkins and Thomas.

Ineligibility

Individuals and other types of organizations are not eligible. Grants are not made to support ongoing operating budgets and activities, except for response to community disasters.
