Berkshire Inspired Educational Fund Grant

The Berkshire Inspired Educational Fund, established by the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation, aims to assist BIPOC and economically disadvantaged students from Berkshire County, MA, facing emergency financial needs. Inspired by local traditions of supporting educational aspirations, the fund provides vital financial resources for college-related expenses, ensuring these students can achieve their academic goals. This initiative reflects the foundation's commitment to community empowerment and economic mobility, reinforcing their mission to foster equitable opportunities for all residents.

The Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation
Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation was established in 1987 in Salisbury, Conn., with an anonymous donation of $100,000. Originally an affiliate of the New York Community Trust, the foundation became an independent public charity in 1990. Today, BTCF manages more than 550 funds that put over $14 million into action each year. Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation serves Berkshire, Columbia, northeast Dutchess and northwest Litchfield counties. This unique area where New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts meet contains 2,200 square miles of natural beauty and small-town charm that is home to nearly 230,000 people.

Berkshire Inspired Educational Fund was inspired by past efforts of Berkshire residents to support educational aspirations of members of our community such as W.E.B. DuBois. The mission of the Berkshire Inspired Educational Fund is to provide financial assistance for BIPOC, economically disadvantaged students from Berkshire County, MA who experience emergency financial need for the cost of college or university attendance, which threatens matriculation and/or degree completion. Cost of attendance may include, but is not limited to, the purchase of books and educational supplies/equipment; food; childcare; transportation to and from school; and family emergencies.
