Mission: Help those who have had a sudden loss with their path forward

Geographic Scope: Virginia, US (based on funder location)

Focus Areas:

• Educational support for survivors of sudden loss
• High school through college expenses
• Helping survivors continue or pursue their education

Eligibility:

• Students (high school through college level) who have experienced sudden loss
• Demonstrate financial need
• Must be engaged in their education
• Must explain how need meets foundation's mission

What They Fund:

• Educational expenses from high school through college
• Funds paid directly to educational institutions
• Support contingent on student engagement in education

Restrictions:

• Funds are contingent on factors designed to keep the student engaged in their education
• Maximum benefit to student and family is prioritized

Application Process:

• 3-step process: Letter of Inquiry → Grant Application → Grant Reports
• Requires 3 letters of reference from people who know the applicant
• Applications evaluated and verified for true need by mental health and financial consultants
• Applicant essays and financial situations reviewed and prioritized

Application Process

1. Letter of Inquiry (LOI)
- Explain who you are and why you would like the foundation to consider your application
- Describe how your need meets the foundation's mission to help those who have had a sudden loss with their path forward
- Explain educational circumstances and goals

2. Grant Application
- Complete the full grant application form
- Provide 3 letters of reference from people who know you and are willing to send letters of reference to the foundation
- Submit required financial documentation
- Demonstrate student engagement in education

3. Submission
- Mail completed application to: sarah.blfound@gamil.com

4. Ongoing Reporting
- Provide grant reports every 6 months or as the grant requires
- Reports track academic progress and path forward
