About the Beaufort-Hyde Community Foundation Founded in 2001, the Beaufort-Hyde Community Foundation is an affiliate of the North Carolina Community Foundation. It is led by a local volunteer advisory board that helps build communityassets by creating permanent endowments, making grants, and leveraging leadership  and partnerships - all for the benefit of Beaufort and Hyde counties. One of the key roles of affiliate foundation advisory boards is that of a grantmaker. Each year, BHCF holds a competitive grants program using dollars from a community grantmaking fund and other board-advised funds. Grants will be awarded from the community grantmaking fund, which responds to changing community needs and enhances the quality of community life within the counties through annual grants to local nonprofit organizations. An organization must meet the following criteria to apply:501(c)(3) public charity nonprofit organizations registered with the IRS Organizations with fiscal sponsor that are 501(c)(3) public charity nonprofit organizations registered with the IRS Local governments (including public schools) Fire and rescue departmentsReligious entities, including churches, congregations and other houses of worship, and/or faith-based organizations whose core functions/operations promote religious doctrine or are restricted to members of a particular faith may apply for funding to support social outreach and charitable service programs to benefit the community-at-large, but they may not apply for general operating support. If an organization serves multiple counties within our network, that organization may complete a separate application for each of those affiliates.Organizations must offer programs and services without discrimination based on age, race, national origin, ethnicity, gender, physical ability, sexual orientation, political affiliation or religious belief.

Grants are not awarded for the following:Annual fund or capital campaignsPolitical purposes or lobbyingActivities that are restricted to members of a particular faith communityActivities that promote a specific religious doctrineGeneral operating support for religious entitiesLoansReimbursements: This program does not support reimbursement of costs incurred prior to the deadline for submission of your application. Your request may only include costs that will occur in the future, after the submission deadline of the application.For the direct benefit of named individualsRe-granting by the applicant organization. Applications for specific programs and projects or for general operating support are accepted, unless otherwise specified.
