Mission A pioneering advocate for cultural equity, the Bronx Council on the Arts nurtures the development of a diverse array of artists and arts organizations and builds strong cultural connections in and beyond The Bronx. Arts on the Block Arts on the Block (AB) is a grassroots initiative designed to provide small grants of up to $1,500 specifically for artist fees for arts activities at block parties and single block festivals. (Examples include DJs, spoken word artists, musicians, singers, dancers, etc., or other artists whose activities will enhance block party attendance.) This initiative aims to support small local organizations and block associations to increase attendance at their events.

Ineligibility

Applicants are not eligible for BCA Grants if:They received a BCA grant in a previous year but failed to submit a Final Report orThey applied for direct funding from NYSCA in the same fiscal year.Funding cannot be provided for:General operating expenses or operating expenses of privately owned facilities, such as homes and studios;Activities that are not open to the general public or are intended only for an organization’s membership;Arts-in-Education programs/residencies that take place in a school during the school day and have no public component;Cash prizes, juried shows, scholarships, fellowships, student stipends, regranting programs, or any other monetary award;Travel expenses outside NYC;Major equipment purchases, property or mortgage payments, or capital improvements such as building construction or renovation;Major expenditures for the establishment of a new organization;Administrative costs unrelated to the proposed project; orEntertainment costs, such as theater parties, gallery and museum openings, receptions, or fundraisers.
