Overview

Basil L. King Scholarship Foundation Background The Basil L. King Scholarship Foundation was established in 1978, and grew out of the Fort Pierce Memorial Hospital Association, Inc., that owned and operated the Fort Pierce Memorial Hospital. Funds from the sale of the hospital were endowed by the Foundation with the sole designation to meet the exhibited financial needs of St. Lucie County residents seeking education leading to careers in health care and related fields. On March 7, 2002, the Foundation changed its name to the Basil L. King Scholarship Foundation, Inc. in honor of the Fort Pierce Memorial Hospital's administrator Basil L. King who was instrumental in establishing the trust and in served as the Executive Director until his passing. Applications for the Basil L. King Foundation Scholarship are accepted each spring. Award are made in the summer for use in the next academic year. Two-Year Scholarships The Basil L. King Scholarships Foundation provides scholarship assistance to residents of St. Lucie County pursuing a career in the Health Sciences. Funding Award amounts vary based on spending policy parameters.

Have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher on their most recent academic transcript.GPAs of 2.5 or higher can be considered based on extenuating circumstances documented in the application. Be accepted into a Health Science program (Individuals taking prerequisite classes to enter a Health Science program will not be considered.)
