Barney & Barney Foundation Annual Grant Program

  • Overview:
    The Barney & Barney Foundation awards grants to local non-profit organizations annually. Since 2009, the Foundation has awarded $5.5 million to more than 300 non-profits.

      Selection Process

    • Nomination-based: Grant recipients are nominated and selected each year by Foundation colleagues
    • Review: Foundation Committee reviews all grant applications and makes recommendations to the Board of Directors
    • Selection: Board narrows candidates to 2-3 per area of focus (youth/communities or arts/environment)
    • Annual rotation: Foundation is committed to supporting different non-profit organizations each year

      Geographic Distribution

      Grants are distributed across four regions:
    • San Diego
    • Orange County/Los Angeles
    • Bay Area
    • Contra Costa County

    Eligibility: Local 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations serving the designated geographic areas
