Summary
The Authorized Providership for Restorative Practices grant from the Texas Education Agency aims to fund selected Education Service Centers (ESCs) to develop and pilot a scalable model for TEA’s Restorative Practices training. This initiative seeks to create a sustainable system for external entities to become approved providers of these practices. The pilot phase will last six months to a year, focusing on training key staff to ensure fidelity in implementation, ultimately fostering healthy relationships and supportive learning environments in Texas schools.Overview
Texas Education Agency The Texas Education Agency (TEA) is the state agency that oversees primary and secondary public education. It is headed by the commissioner of education. The Texas Education Agency improves outcomes for all public school students in the state by providing leadership, guidance, and support to school systems. TEA helps deliver education to more than 5 million students under the leadership of the commissioner of education. The TEA operational costs are supported by both state and federal funds. The Texas Education Agency administers federal and state grant awards to its subgrantees to carry out a program. Such entities include primarily school systems (referred to as local educational agencies [LEAs] in statutes), including independent school districts and charter schools; education service centers (ESCs); and, to a lesser degree, institutions of higher education (IHEs), nonprofit organizations (NPOs), and other statutorily allowable organizations. Authorized Providership for Restorative Practices Purpose of Program This grant program will provide funding to selected Education Service Centers (ESCs) to design and pilot a scalable and sustainable model for authorized providership of the Texas Education Agency’s (TEA) Restorative Practices training. The goal of this initiative is to establish a replicable system through which external entities can become approved providers of TEA’s Restorative Practices model. The process involves a pilot phase, which will span six months to one year, during which key staff will be trained and monitored to ensure fidelity in delivering the TEA Restorative Practices model. ESCs are instrumental in supporting the long-term sustainability and statewide implementation of Restorative Practices in Texas. Restorative Practices in education aim to build and maintain healthy relationships, foster a sense of community, and create supportive learning environments. These practices are proven to reduce undesirable student behaviors while equipping students with essential skills for self-discipline and personal growth.Eligibility
