Overview

Mission Statement The mission of the ASNT Foundation is to advance the field of nondestructive testing through research, scholarship, and workforce development. The Foundation will conduct research into the methods, technologies, best practices, and business of nondestructive testing. Research will be generalized based on the interests of researchers in the field as well as targeted areas based on practical requirements of the field as determined by Foundation leaders. Technical research will be published in ASNT' s journals and presented at ASNT's conferences and used by the members and stakeholders of the Society. Business research will be published in various ASNT channels and used by the leaders of the society and organizations which are engaged in the field. The Foundation will provide scholarships for individuals to complete education and training at technical training, community college, and university degree programs which help people prepare for entry or advancement within the nondestructive testing field. Scholarships will be endowed and administered internally by the Foundation as well as at selected institutions. The Foundation will provide grants. to individual faculty members and institutions to develop and sustain educational programs and curriculum in nondestructive testing. This would include grants to support the professional development of faculty and instructors. The Foundation will conduct workforce development programs to help people learn about and prepare to enter the nondestructive testing field. These programs will target secondary school students, college students, transitioning military members, and veterans. The Foundation will pursue grants and other funds from government and other organizations for workforce development. James J. Treat Scholarship The James J. Treat Scholarship is established to honor the legacy of James J. Treat, a distinguished figure in the nondestructive testing (NDT) field. This scholarship is dedicated to supporting students who are pursuing education and careers in NDT. By providing financial assistance, the James J. Treat Scholarship aims to empower students to excel in their academic endeavors and contribute to the future of the NDT industry.
