This award supports innovative projects, fostering an inclusive scientific community by selecting 24 scientists annually from North America and Europe. With flexible funding of up to $150,000, the program emphasizes mentorship and aims to advance hematology-focused careers beyond the United States and Canada.

Overview

A joint effort of the American Society of Hematology (ASH) and the European Hematology Association (EHA), Translational Research Training in Hematology (TRTH) is a unique, year-long training and mentoring program focused on helping early stage researchers, including senior postdoctoral fellows and junior faculty, gain the tools necessary to build successful careers in blood-related translational research. Each year, 24 early-career scientists (12 from North America and 12 from Europe) are selected to participate in the prestigious and rigorous training program led by faculty who are international leaders in hematology. Topics covered include biostatistics and biomarkers, genetics and molecular biology, ethics, and phase I clinical study design. Through the ASH Global Research Award, the Society intends to: Support the hematology-focused careers of ASH members who are trainees or early-career investigator based in countries other than the United States or Canada.Foster an inclusive scientific community by supporting leaders from all regions of the world.Offer a funding structure that accommodates a wide array of innovative, project-based, hematology-related applications.Provide support for training, including training in the conduct of clinical trials and research.Support malignant and non-malignant hematology projects. Award The award length may vary from six months to three years, depending on the proposed project need. The award amount is also intended to be flexible. The amount requested in each application will be assessed to determine whether it is appropriate for the project and for the costs of the region.
