Overview

Artist Support Grant

Funder: Tryon Fine Arts Center (serving as Polk County Arts Council) and North Carolina Arts Council, in collaboration with regional partners

Geographic Scope: Region 17 includes Buncombe, Haywood, Henderson, Polk, Rutherford, and Transylvania counties in North Carolina

Background: Established in 2020 to assist individual artists during the pandemic, the Artist Support Grant has become a vital resource for local creatives. In 2024, 21 recipients across the region received awards.

Eligible Applicants: Individual artists from the served communities (Region 17 counties)

Eligible Art Forms: Visual arts, literary arts, music, film, choreography, interdisciplinary arts, and more

Eligible Uses: Examples of funded projects include:

  • Purchasing new equipment

  • Building websites

  • Covering travel expenses for research purposes

  • Completing artistic projects
  • Requirements:

  • No matching requirement - Partners aim to support artists without imposing additional financial burdens
