Arizona Transportation Modernization Grants

A statewide grant program designed to spark transit solutions and support development of transportation options for K-12 public school students, moving beyond traditional yellow school buses.

Background: In July 2021, A for Arizona won a competitive bid through the Arizona Department of Administration to administer this grant program. Governor Doug Ducey advocated for and invested $10 million of federal stimulus monies for public schools, local governments, and other entities.

Funding:

• $20 million in FY22
• $14 million available for FY23

Geographic Scope: Arizona statewide

Focus Areas:

• Improve access to reliable and safe transportation
• Support K-12 transportation innovation and efficiency solutions
• Partner with entrepreneurs, local government, and community leaders
• Develop transit solutions not solely reliant on yellow school buses
• Address transportation barriers that prevent students from accessing educational opportunities

Eligibility: Public schools, local governments, and other entities
