Overview

Our History On August 27, 1953, Archie D & Bertha H Walker established the Archie D & Bertha H Walker Family Foundation. The purpose, as stated in conformity with the Minnesota Nonprofit Corporation Act, "shall be to foster and promote charitable, scientific, literary, religious and educational ends,..." their personal reasons for establishing such an institution were to support and encourage charitable activities. They wished to devote the excess of funds over and above their needs, and those of their family, to improve the community in which they lived. They wished to enhance the effectiveness and value of those funds devoted to the charitable activities in which they had become interested. They encouraged their family members to become involved in community programs which improve and enrich the life of their community. Annual Grant Priorities Support for Combating Systemic Racism, Prejudice, & Exclusivity Nonprofits that address racist practices and policies. Nonprofits that are working to dismantle systemic barriers and create equitable access to resources and opportunities. Support for  Organizations in Arts Nonprofits that support the creation of art, learning in the arts at all stages of life, and the integration of the arts into the fabric of community life. Nonprofits that provide visual arts, performing arts, and/or literary arts.

Eligibility

A fiscal sponsorship is not permitted. The organization must be currently registered with the State of MinnesotaGrantmaking is limited to the Minnesota Twin Cities metropolitan area. Must be in these seven counties: Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott, and Washington counties.
