Appalachian Youth Leadership Summit (AYLS)

Overview: The Appalachian Youth Leadership Summit is a leadership development program for high school students that combines self-discovery, community service, and professional mentorship.

Geographic Scope: 42 Kentucky school districts served by the Appalachian Cradle to Career Partnership, plus Claiborne County, TN and Lee County, VA

Eligibility:

  • Grade Level: 10th and 11th-grade students only

  • Location: Students from designated Kentucky school districts and specified Tennessee/Virginia counties

    • Program Details:

  • Duration: 4 days (June 10-13, 2024 in past year; annual summer program)

  • Location: Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, TN with activities in Middlesboro, KY, Harrogate, and Cumberland Gap, TN

  • Housing: Residential experience at LMU housing with meals provided
