APAF: Jeanne Spurlock, M.D. Minority Fellowship Achievement Award Grant

The APAF: Jeanne Spurlock, M.D. Minority Fellowship Achievement Award, established in 1999, acknowledges the significant contributions of former fellows of the Minority Fellowships to the psychiatry profession and the minority community. This award promotes continued engagement in the fellowship program while honoring Dr. Jeanne Spurlock, the program's founder. It aims to enhance psychiatric education, improve access to quality care, and support the professional needs of its members, fostering collaboration in mental health fields.

The mission of the American Psychiatric Association is to
promote universal and equitable access to the highest quality care for all people affected by mental disorders, including substance use disorders;promote psychiatric education and research;advance and represent the profession of psychiatry; andserve the professional needs of its membership.

To promote the rights and best interests of patients and those actually or potentially making use of psychiatric services for mental illness, including substance use disorders.
To improve access to and quality of psychiatric services.To improve research into all aspects of mental illness, including causes, prevention, and treatment of psychiatric disorders.To improve psychiatric education and training.To promote optimal conditions for practice and career satisfaction.To foster collaboration among all who are concerned with medical, psychological, socio-cultural and legal aspects of mental health and illness.To improve functioning of the APA in the service of its mission.
APAF: Jeanne Spurlock, M.D. Minority Fellowship Achievement Award
The Jeanne Spurlock, M.D. Minority Fellowship Achievement Award, established in 1999, recognizes the achievements of former fellows of the Minority Fellowships who have made (or are making) significant contribution(s) to the profession and/or the minority community. It also encourages continued involvement in the fellowship program.
The award honors Jeanne Spurlock, M.D., founder of the Minority Fellowship Program and former APA deputy medical director.

Eligibility

An alumna/alumnus of the APA Minority Fellowship Program who has made or is making significant contribution(s) to the profession and/or the minority community
