Overview: The centerpiece of the Greenwich Old Timers Youth Sports Alliance's mission is to support youth sports and provide its annual Scholarship Program.

Geographic Scope: Greenwich, Connecticut area

Focus Areas:

Needs-based scholarships for deserving student athletes

Support for youth sports

Education funding for graduating high school seniors

Key Details:

Program initiated in 1966 with first award of $500 to Garland Allen

Over $1 million awarded since inception through 2024

Awards have grown from one-year $500 grants to four-year renewable grants of $4,000 each

Awards graduating high school seniors to further their education

Scholarship Types:

Four-Year Renewable Grants: $4,000 each year

One-Year Awards: Varying amounts including specialized scholarships:

- Michael Sandlock Baseball Scholarship (one-year)
- Joseph Piro Jr. Memorial Golf Tournament Scholarships (one-year)
- Erf Porter Award (four-year community services scholarship)
- Scott Harrington Memorial Award (four-year)
- Hoyt Memorial Scholarship
- Andy Anderson Award
- David Theis Memorial Award
- Cameron Fennell Memorial Baseball Scholarship

Eligibility:

Graduating high school seniors

Needs-based qualification

Student athletes with athletic background and/or community service history

Preference for Greenwich high school students

Status: Active and ongoing
