Anna C. & Oliver C. Colburn Fellowships Grant

The Anna C. & Oliver C. Colburn Fellowships support pre-doctoral students and recent PhD graduates in their archaeological studies at the American School of Classical Studies in Athens, Greece. Funded by the Archaeological Institute of America, these fellowships aim to foster an understanding of diverse cultures through archaeology. Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the U.S. or Canada and demonstrate ethical practice in their research. Preference is given to those not affiliated with ASCSA.

NOTE: Two letters of reference from persons familiar with you and your work are required and must be submitted electronically by the deadline.

Eligibility

Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States or Canada. Applicants must be at the pre-doctoral stage or have received a PhD within five years of application.Applicants no longer need to apply concurrently to the ASCSA for associate membership or associate student membership but please note that all application materials submitted to the AIA, including transcripts and letters of recommendation, will be shared with the American School of Classical Studies at Athens Admissions and Fellowships Committee for review. The ASCSA will review applications to determine eligibility for membership at the School independently of fellowship adjudication and will be in contact with applicants about offers of ASCSA membership. An offer of membership does not indicate receipt of a fellowship award.Awarding of each Colburn Fellowship is contingent upon the applicant’s acceptance by the ASCSA.The AIA welcomes applicants of all backgrounds and is committed to equal opportunity for all. Ineligibility

An applicant may not be a member of ASCSA during the year of application.Current officers and members of the Governing Board, staff, members of the Fellowships Committee and members of their immediate families are prohibited from applying for or receiving fellowships, grants, and other financial awards that may be offered by the Archaeological Institute of America.
