Mission Statement The AIA promotes archaeological inquiry and public understanding of the material record of the human past to foster an appreciation of diverse cultures and our shared humanity.  The AIA supports archaeologists, their research and its dissemination, and the ethical practice of archaeology.  The AIA educates people of all ages about the significance of archaeological discovery and advocates for the preservation of the world’s archaeological heritage. AIA Society Outreach Grant Program The AIA Society Outreach Grant Program encourages AIA societies to plan and implement outreach activities in their local community. Any event that promotes archaeology, the AIA’s mission, and focuses on public outreach and education will be considered for funding. Attracting new members to the AIA and the society should also be a goal. This grant is meant for innovative outreach programs, replicable by other societies and beyond the regular lecture program supported by the national office (see past projects). Funding Grants do not have a set monetary value. The amount awarded to a Society will be contingent on the estimated cost of the event or project being planned.
