Summary
The Amphibian TAG Small Grant program, led by the Amphibian Taxon Advisory Group (ATAG), supports urgent conservation projects for North American species with grants up to $2000, typically around $1000. The program prioritizes innovative education, field conservation, and partnerships to enhance species recovery efforts. Eligible projects should align with the ATAG Regional Collection Plan, and applicants are encouraged to review this plan before submission to ensure adherence to funding criteria.Overview
Amphibian Taxon Advisory Group The Association of Zoos & Aquarium’s (AZA) Amphibian Taxon Advisory Group (ATAG) is comprised of peer-elected representatives from across North America. The ATAG steering committee provides direction to AZA members for collective amphibian conservation through the ATAG Regional Collection Plan (RCP). The ATAG RCP prioritizes North American species identified for immediate conservation action through a global prioritization process (IUCN/AArk). Two of ATAG’s primary goals are to expand capacity for species in peril and provide husbandry training/resources for future amphibian stewards. ATAG Grant The Amphibian Taxon Advisory Group (ATAG) will consider proposals for its small grant program for amounts up to $2000, although most awards are $1000 or less. Funding Priorities The ATAG small grants were initiated to support projects that uphold the conservation priorities of the AZA ATAG Regional Collection Plan (RCP). Prior to submission of your proposal, review of this plan is strongly recommended. The ATAG Steering Committee will select projects for funding based on the following: How well the proposal meets ATAG RCP Conservation or Educational goals.Zoo and aquarium partnerships and permits must be approved and demonstrated.Field conservation of species and their habitats or mitigation of threats.Innovative education initiatives to benefit species at risk and their habitats.Zoo research that has direct application to the health or recovery of species at risk.Eligibility
