Summary
The American Society of Biomechanics invites applications for the Junior Faculty Research Award (JFRA), aimed at supporting early-career researchers in biomechanics. This competitive grant, offering $5,000 for a 12-month project, is available to ASB regular members who have held their position for no more than six years. Recipients must present their findings at an ASB meeting and contribute to the ASB Newsletter, acknowledging the society as a funding source.Overview
Mission To encourage and foster the exchange of information and ideas among biomechanists working in different disciplines and fields of application, biological sciences, exercise and sports science, health sciences, ergonomics and human factors, and engineering and applied science, and to facilitate the development of biomechanics as a basic and applied science. Junior Faculty Research Award The purpose of this program is to support early career ASB regular members pursuing biomechanics research by offering a source of research funding. The grants are distributed on a competitive basis and are intended to offset the costs directly associated with conducting research. Funds may be used for small equipment items, materials and supplies, and animal or participant costs, and $1000 can be used to support graduate student stipends or hourly pay, but no indirect costs of research. ASB anticipates awarding one grant of $5000 for a one-year period beginning in July each year. It is expected that recipients will attend and present their research at an annual ASB meeting taking place within two years following receipt of the Award. Furthermore, the recipient will be asked to contribute a short article about the project for a future ASB Newsletter. If publications result from the data collected under this project, the ASB must be acknowledged as a funding source.Eligibility
