Eligibility

• Must be an Eagle Scout
• Must be nominated through respective state American Legion department

Award Details

• Primary Award: $10,000 scholarship for American Legion Eagle Scout of the Year
• Runner-Up Awards: Three scholarships of $2,500 each
• Award Timing: Recipients can receive scholarship immediately upon high school graduation
• Usage Timeline: Must utilize total award within four (4) years of high school graduation (excluding active military duty or religious mission)
• Graduation Types Eligible: Public, parochial, military, private, or home school
• Recognition: Eagle Scout of the Year winner travels to Youth Champion Delegation honored at American Legion annual National Convention each August

Nomination Timeline

• Nomination Window: November 1 to March 1 annually
• State Deadline: March 1 (packets must be received by state headquarters)
• National Deadline: April 1 (state departments submit winning packet and committee list to national headquarters)
