The Alvah & Doris Veit Foundation is a New Jersey, Nonprofit corporation functioning as a Charitable Foundation based in Merchantville, NJ. The Foundation was established in 2011 through the generosity of Doris S. Veit formerly of Camden, NJ. The Foundation’s mission is two-fold. First, to provide Academic Grants to graduates of Camden, NJ High Schools who are entering college in pursuit of an Engineering degree. The second purpose is to provide Grants for Christian Evangelical Missions [501- (c)(3)] that are actively sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is important to note that while the Foundation operates as one non-profit entity, distributions are divided between Academic Grants to individuals and Evangelical Grants to evangelical Christian organizations. Academic Grants The Foundation, a regional, national and international philanthropy is committed to advancing academic excellence among Camden City, NJ graduating seniors who are pursuing a career in Engineering. By providing funds, the Directors of the Foundation seek to encourage Camden’s graduating seniors to retain focus in their academic studies and pursue an education in Engineering with the ultimate goal of improving their society and nation. Meeting quarterly, the Board of Directors awards grants on the basis of proposals describing the specific individuals or projects. Academic grants will be awarded in the month of May. Median grant size for Academics will be $5,000. Grant funds may be used for tuition, resource materials, supplies, equipment, transportation, software, or scholars-in-residence. The majority of grant funds must be spent on materials or educational experiences for students. Grants will fund activities for 12 months from the date of the award. Academic Grants may be reviewed annually for a four year period. Applications are reviewed four times per year, every year.

Grant funds may not be used to: support after-school, weekend, or summer programs:pay indirect costs, grant administration fees, or salaries;pay stipends to the applicants;support conference fees for more than one person.Other restrictions:Identical applications will not be considered.Grants may not be deferred.
