Alma M. Poe Scholarship The Alma M Poe Scholarship was created in 1987 to support students from the 7-county Metro Denver area enrolled in an undergraduate program at a Colorado post-secondary institution. Little details about the life of Alma Poe were included in the creation of this fund, we do know that she was born in Illinois in 1890 and passed away at the age of 96 in 1986, leaving a generous gift in her will to fund this scholarship and aid students in their pursuit of higher education. Scholarships will be awarded once a year through a competitive process based on the following: Financial needScholastic aptitudeEssay response Additional information Awards can be used for tuition, fees, required books and supplies, room and board, and other qualified educational expenses Renewal is not automatic for this award; however, applicants may reapply in subsequent years while still enrolled in an undergraduate program. All scholarships will be paid directly to the recipient’s school and must be used by January 31 of the year following the award. Award disbursement is contingent upon the outside scholarship policies of a recipient’s college or university.Eligibility
