Afterschool for All Grants

A competitive grant program to help programs start up or expand afterschool, before school, summer, expanded learning, and third space programming for Vermont youth in grades K-12. Administered by Vermont Afterschool.

Geographic Scope: Statewide Vermont

Funding Source: Started with tobacco settlement funds allocated by Vermont Legislature to Vermont's Child Development Division (2018). Expanded with $50,000 contribution from Vermont Community Foundation's VT COVID-19 Response Fund in 2020.

Funds to be spent: In the year following award

Priority Focus Areas: The competitive grant process prioritizes programs that:

• Increase access for low-income children and youth
• Create or expand options in underserved areas of the state
• Serve adolescents and teens
• Foster skills in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM)
• Offer summer learning opportunities
• Have COVID-19 expenses
• Provide school-age child care on remote learning days

Application Process

Eligibility Requirements:

• Programs serving K-12 youth
• Afterschool, before school, summer, expanded learning, or third space programs
• Located in Vermont

Application Components:

• Competitive application form
• Project proposal and justification
• Budget and spending plan
• Description of target population and service area
• Plan for addressing priority focus areas

Selection Criteria:

• Priority given to programs increasing access for low-income youth
• Programs in underserved areas
• Programs serving adolescents/teens
• STEM focus
• Summer learning components
• Remote learning day programming
• COVID-19 related needs

Application Deadline: Typically December (specific dates vary by year - check website for current deadline)
