Affiliate Grants - Study Group Activities Fund

The American Musicological Society offers Affiliate Grants to support study group activities with up to $500 in funding, covering no more than 50% of total costs. Applications are accepted twice a year, with deadlines on August 1 and January 15. Only elected representatives of AMS study groups can apply, and groups may receive funding only once in a twelve-month period. Funds must be utilized within a year of the award date.

NOTE: Awards are made semi-annually. Applications for the summer award cycle are due by August 1 (decisions by September 1). Applications for the winter award cycle are due by January 15 (decisions by February 15).
The Society offers funding to AMS affiliate groups throughout the year. The Chapter Activities Fund and Study Group Activities Fund provide partial support for chapter and study group activities and programs twice per year. AMS affiliates cannot receive funding more than once in a twelve-month period.
The Early Music Program Fund supports educational programs that build, strengthen, and sustain the research skills needed to knowledgeably study, teach, perform, and illuminate music and musical cultures in the period before c. 1600. Applications are open to AMS committees, chapters, and study groups.
The Guest Speaker Fund is a special fund established to provide financial support to AMS committees and study groups that invite speakers from outside the field of musicology to participate in the AMS Annual Meeting.
The Study Group Activities Fund provides partial support for study group activities and programs. Requests of up to $500 and no more than 50% of total costs will be considered. Awards are made semi-annually.

Eligibility

Only duly elected representatives of AMS study groups may apply for the Study Group Activities Fund.
A given study group cannot receive funding more than once in a twelve-month period.
The Study Group Activities Fund provides only partial support for any request. Only requests of up to $500 and no more than 50% of total costs will be considered. (Proposals should specify the source of the remaining 50% of total costs.)
Requests must be received in advance of their intended use.
Funds must be used within 12 months of the award date for the purposes outlined in the proposal. Funds not used within 12 months of the award date must be returned to the AMS.

Ineligibility

Study Groups cannot receive funding more than once in a twelve-month period.Individual members of the AMS.
