ACS-Hach Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Scholarship Grant

The ACS-Hach Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Scholarship supports recent graduates and graduate students with an interest in becoming high school chemistry teachers. This scholarship offers stipends up to $6,000 for full-time study or $3,000 for part-time study, alongside mentoring during a three-year teaching commitment. Eligible applicants must pursue a Master's degree in education or certification as a chemistry/science teacher, have less than one year of work experience, and demonstrate a commitment to secondary education.

NOTE: Prior to applying, complete the Letter of Intent (LOI). The purpose of this LOI is to ensure that you complete the application that best matches your situation. This information that you provide will be reviewed by ACS Staff. When approved, you will receive the application form for which you are eligible. Allow one business day for review and notification.

Description
The ACS-Hach Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Scholarship is awarded to recent graduates and graduate students with limited work experience and an interest in becoming secondary chemistry teachers. Recipients must be pursuing a Masters degree in education or becoming certified as a chemistry/science teacher.
Scholarship recipients receive:
Scholarship stipends (up to $6,000 for full-time study or up to $3,000 for part-time study) towards the completion of a Masters degree in education or secondary chemistry/science certification.Support and mentoring throughout their three year teaching commitment.

Eligibility

Recipients must be pursuing a Masters degree in education or becoming certified as a chemistry/science teacher.To be eligible, you must:Have a Bachelors degree or higher in chemistry or chemistry-related discipline:Agricultural ChemistryBiochemistryCeramic Science/Chemistry/TechnologyChemical EngineeringChemical TechnologyEnvironmental Science/Engineering (must be chemistry-based)Forensic Science/ChemistryFood Science (not Nutrition)Industrial ChemistryMaterials Science or Petroleum EngineeringNanotechnology or NanosciencePaper and Pulp TechnologyToxicologyHave less than one year work experience outside of obtaining undergraduate and graduate degreesDemonstrate an interest and commitment to becoming a secondary educatorBe accepted into an education masters program or teacher certification programBe a U.S. citizen or permanent residentRecipients who meet the award criteria are eligible to renew the award annually up to three years.  The scholarship can be applied to tuition, books, room and board, and other education-related expenses.

Ineligibility

Scholarships cannot be applied to expenses retroactively.
