Academic Partners Program

Overview: The Academic Partners Program connects students with faculty mentors to enable them to complete a significant academic or fine arts project. Students in the program receive one-on-one mentoring and a one-semester stipend to complete a project that they present to the campus during "Works of Our Hands Week."

Geographic Scope: Geneva College (Pennsylvania, US)

Eligibility:

  • Junior and Senior level students

  • Fall semester students must have senior status

  • Spring semester students may be either juniors or seniors

  • Enrolls twelve students each semester
  • What is Funded:

  • $300 stipend per student per semester

  • $200 per faculty mentor

  • One semester of independent study credit

  • One-on-one faculty mentoring
  • Program Requirements:

  • Original academic or fine arts project

  • Students receive independent study credit

  • Students present the completed project on campus at the end of the semester

  • Students are permitted to enroll in up to twenty credits at the full-time tuition rate during any semester that they are members of the honors programs

  • Participants required to enroll in HON 401, a one-credit seminar designed to foster interdisciplinary understanding
  • Expectations:

  • Meet regularly and often with partnering faculty member throughout the duration of the project

  • Respect the insights, suggestions and schedule of the partnering faculty member

  • Present research findings at a professional presentation during "Works of Our Hands Week"
