AAS-Lundbeck Travel Fellowship Awards

Sponsor: American Autonomic Society (AAS) in partnership with Lundbeck

Purpose: Travel fellowship awards for trainee members presenting abstracts at the AAS annual meeting.

Geographic Scope: International (no citizenship requirements mentioned)

Eligibility:

  • Current AAS Trainee Member

  • Must have submitted abstract(s) for the annual meeting

  • Must provide confirmation of training status via letter from mentor (for students/post-docs) or department chair (for residents/junior faculty) on departmental letterhead
  • Focus Areas: All areas of autonomic nervous system research

    Evaluation Criteria:

  • Significance of hypothesis

  • Rigor of methods and approach

  • Significance and potential impact of findings

  • Validity of conclusions

  • Presentation quality of submission

  • Scientific content

  • Originality of study design

  • Scientific relevance

  • Quality of presentation
  • Award Presentation: Winners selected from top poster presentations at annual meeting (November). Top 4 trainee posters invited to give 5-minute lightning platform presentation at designated platform session (Saturday, November 5). Also includes poster-specific awards.

    2. Confirmation of training status - a letter written by:
    - Your mentor (if student or post-doc), OR
    - Your department chair (if resident or junior faculty)
    - Letter must be on departmental letterhead
    3. Submit as a single PDF

  • Selection Process:

  • Trainee abstracts judged on criteria listed above

  • All trainee members with abstract submissions eligible for in-person poster presentation competition (Wednesday, November 2)

  • Poster presentations rated by panel of senior investigator judges on scale of 1-5 (5 being highest)

  • Ratings based on scientific content, originality of study design, scientific relevance and quality of presentation

  • Top scorers notified at end of each poster presentation day

  • Top 4 presentations selected for 5-minute lightning platform presentation
