AAHPM Next Gen Scholars for Equity in HPM Program

Focus: Leadership development, innovation, and deepening understanding in hospice and palliative care for early-career individuals from historically marginalized and underrepresented groups in the field.

    • Early-career individuals passionate about advancing hospice and palliative medicine

    • Must be able to commit to two-year relationship

    • AAHPM Annual Assembly sponsorship: Participation in premier event with networking, cutting-edge educational sessions, and latest advancements in the field
    • Scholarly project presentation: Work with sponsor to produce project to be presented at Annual Assembly
    • Outstanding project award: AAHPM recognizes and presents award to scholar with most outstanding project
    • In-person meeting sponsorship: Sponsored meeting with sponsor to expand knowledge and connect with peers
    • AAHPM Membership: Full access to Academy resources, research, and supportive community
    • Quarterly support: Quarterly Zoom meetings with all scholars and sponsors
    • Organizational support and resources: AAHPM provides ongoing support

    Program Goals

    AHPM aims to improve representation within HPM through direct mentorships, increase diversity and inclusion in the HPM professional workforce and leadership, and ensure the field more closely represents the communities it serves.
