About MainStreet Foundation The MainStreet Foundation awards grants for projects that impact the essentials, like food, security, shelter and education. We strive to positively impact the lives of the most vulnerable members of our community so they may have a supportive and safe environment. Who We Are The MainStreet Foundation’s board is comprised of Androscoggin Bank employees, members of the Bank’s Board of Directors, Bank Corporators and community members. The MainStreet Board is made up of individuals who care about our community and who understand the importance of creating a stable childhood in the development of Maine as a place to live and work. History of Giving The MainStreet Foundation was started by an investment from Androscoggin Bank in 1997, and issued its first grants in 1998. The Foundation works separately from Androscoggin Bank, but uses resources and in-kind support provided by the Bank. 25K for Kids Grant Once a year we collect applications for the $25K for Kids grant. After applications are submitted, the Board meets and selects three finalists to make a presentation. From the finalists, one organization receives the special $25,000 award.

The MainStreet Foundation donates $25,000 to one local non-profit that benefits at-risk youth in Maine by focus on providing life essentials: food, shelter, and security.Include a copy of your organization's 501(c)3 statusThe Foundation seeks proposals that provide direct service to at-risk youth including, but not limited to:After school and mentoring programs Leadership development and experience of all types Promoting literacy and a love of learning Coping with homelessness and difficult family dynamics Promoting mental health and developing effective change and coping mechanisms Learning life-management skillsGrants awarded are generally limited to the market areas served by Androscoggin Bank. The Bank has clients all over Maine, with branches and business offices located in Scarborough, Portland, Gray, Brunswick, Lisbon Falls, Turner, Lewiston, Auburn, Jay, and South Paris.We also ask that grant recipients wait at least twelve months, before submitting another request for funding.

Ineligibility

The Foundations grants will not be given to support:General operating expenses or annual operating budget Endowments Conferences or Seminars Training of trainers or teachers Facilities renovation or improvement We do not support multi-year requests or capital campaigns.We also ask that grant recipients do not apply for additional funding for at least 12 months or one calendar year, whichever is longer, from the conclusion of any previously funded projects before submitting another request.
