2026 Seed Grant Program

  • Key Eligibility Requirements

    Applicant Requirements:

  • Must be employed by U.S. nonprofit institution engaged in health-related research

  • Must hold an advanced degree (MD, DO, PhD, or international equivalent)

  • Research must be conducted in the United States

  • Must be eligible to receive external funding through their institution
  • Eligible Researcher Categories:

  • Tenured faculty members

  • Pre-tenured (tenure-track) faculty members

  • Postdoctoral researchers

  • Non-tenure-track faculty or research scientists
  • Institutional Requirements:

  • Must be U.S. nonprofit (501(c)(3) or equivalent nonprofit status)

  • Institution responsible for ensuring compliance with U.S. Department of Health and Human Services guidelines
  • Project Requirements:

  • Must focus on pancreatic cancer research

  • Must aim to generate preliminary data supporting future large-scale funding

  • Must propose innovative, high-impact work

  • Must be led by eligible principal investigator

      Special Considerations

    • Collaborations with senior scientists in advisory/mentorship roles viewed favorably

    • Returning applicants must supplement Bio Sketch and Other Support documents with new information

      Post-Award Requirements

    • Grantees must submit brief public progress reports every six months
    • Awardees invited into growing Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) reviewer pool for future grant cycles

      Review Process

    • Applications reviewed by Sky Foundation's Scientific Advisory Committee (experts in pancreatic cancer research and treatment)
    • Evaluated on: scientific merit, innovation, feasibility, and potential impact
    • SAC submits funding recommendations to Sky Foundation's Governing Board for final approval
    • All applicants receive feedback whether funded or not
    • Decisions shared by September 2026
